International Karate Association
The IKA was founded in 1953 in Japan to "promote traditional Japanese Karate" [IKA]. Its goal is to spread karate, especially Gosoku Ryu, the style developed by Takayuki Kubota. The IKA headquarters were moved to California in 1964 under the leadership of Grand Master Kubota. In 1989, Gosoku Ryu was recognized internationally as a new, unique style, and as its creator, the Grand Master was granted the title of "Soke".
