SKA was founded in Los Angeles by Tsutomu Ohshima in 1955 to teach traditional shotokan karate [
SKA]. Ohshima was a direct student of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan. SKA is also affiliated with several other national Shotokan organizations worldwide.
